Every Sunday, in the heart of Kuta, The Sheraton serves up their one-of-a-kind Market Brunch. The Sunday Market Brunch Sheraton Bali Kuta includes a combination of tantalizing dishes, live entertainment and market shopping, this is an experience not to miss!
When we were invited to attend the Sunday Market Brunch Sheraton Bali Kuta we knew we were in for a treat. What we didn’t know however, was just what an incredible and memorable experience awaited us. I’ve heard people talk about ‘foodie heaven’ before and I guess I just thought “Good for you, you must have really enjoyed whatever it was you ate.”! Well, I guess I should have paid more attention because it is clear to me now that they must have just been to the Sunday Market Brunch Sheraton Bali Kuta! Seriously! Our expectations were not only met, but surpassed to the point of knowing that any other buffet we ever attend in the future, should we compare it to this one, is destined to be a disappointment. Yes, that’s how serious I am! I’ll be honest, leaving a buffet and having to use strength and stamina to re-button my pants may be something I have experienced once or twice, so let’s just say it was a mighty good thing that I was wearing a loose fitting dress on this particular day!

Bring the kids
I am going to talk about this first because honestly, I think it is the most important point. For people with children and those without! Anyone who goes out for a meal, anywhere at any time, wants to enjoy themselves, and let’s be realistic, that can sometimes be a challenge when there are kids around. Those of us with kids can find themselves so caught up with keeping them happy/quiet/well behaved, that enjoyment seems a far off fantasy. And those without kids, should you be sitting nearby to a family who are obviously struggling with the latter, your enjoyment levels are likely to take a big dip also. Well, not here! There is a whole area dedicated to children, complete with toys, art and craft activities, and best of all – staff dedicated to keeping your children entertained so you don’t have to. Bliss! And if that’s not enough to have your children screaming “best restaurant ever!” there’s the children’s buffet – a cute little kiddie buffet dedicated to pleasing even the fussiest of little tastebuds. But what about the dog? Probably not a question you would normally ask when heading out to a restaurant, but you can here. There is dog care too with staff dedicated to caring for your pooch!
Where do I begin? You name it, chances are it’s here! I don’t think I have ever seen such a lavish and extravagant spread of food all in the one room before. I think I must have walked around with an empty plate in my hand for about five minutes before deciding what to eat first. The obvious choice was to start with the appetizers and go on from there, but once I laid eyes on the dessert buffet, offering what appeared to be every kind of dessert ever invented, I was tempted to start backwards. Fortunately the sushi station tempted me back to sanity and I began my degustation with (according to our eldest) the “best sushi ever” accompanied by some juicy fresh prawns.
When it comes to a buffet, especially one of this calibre, I have this insatiable need to sample absolutely everything on offer. Well, that was not going to happen. Not in the space of 3 hours anyway. I certainly gave it a red hot go though! As well as the salads, oysters and cured seafood, included in the appetizers was an elaborate spread of cheeses, breads and antipasto. While I tried to be clever and have really little samples of many different things, there was no way I could try it all. Well, actually I probably could have, but then there would have been no room for dessert. Oh, and entree and main…….
In a subconscious attempt to get closer to dessert, I almost completely skipped the entrees. Almost. The dim sum station was way too tempting to pass up and while I’m still not sure exactly what it was, there were some savoury dumplings with the yummiest sauce on them which throughout the day I couldn’t help but keep coming back to. I may have even broken the cardinal rule and snuck in a couple more between desserts!
When it came to mains there was a real problem! I geniunely did not know where to start. Everywhere I turned there was a different station tempting me in it’s direction. Tepenyaki, shawarma, suckling pig, roast beef. For a moment I was mesmerised by a noodle maker making fresh noodles. There was even a barbeque set up outside with an array of fresh seafood to choose from which they grill and bring to your table. Again, I tried to be clever and have small portions of many dishes. The whole time, the dessert buffet in the centre of the room, calling out my name. I think what made it so difficult was the fact that everything tasted even better than it looked and smelled. And that’s saying something!
And then came dessert! Oh. My. Goodness. I can barely even attempt to put into a sentence just how amazing the dessert buffet was. It was absolutely huge and had so much to choose from that I think I actually gave myself anxiety just trying to decide what to have first. It was a no brainer for the kids – straight to the ice cream station. But which of the many flavours and crazy amount of topping do they choose? A little bit of all according to one of the kids! Why not add a freshly cooked crepe to it too? Hang on, is that a popcorn machine over there? Ummm, did someone say chocolate fountain? Dessert heaven for any child, and remember they had their own little dessert buffet to hit up too!
I can’t tell you how many times I returned to the desserts. Not because I don’t remember, but because I don’t want to tell you. I don’t think you’d believe me if I did anyway! Cakes, tarts, biscuits, brownies, chocolates, pies, pastries, puddings, the list just goes on. And everything was so meticulously presented and of such high quality, it really was dessert lovers heaven! There was even an array of fresh fruit. Something I made sure to have some of, if for no other reason than to make myself feel better about the ridiculous amount of sugar I had just consumed! In case you didn’t quite pick up in it, I like my dessert! So, to say this dessert buffet was the best I have ever had is a pretty big statement. But it’s the truth. In fact, I think I’m probably going to have dreams about it for many years to come!
Included in the cost of the buffet at the Sunday Market Brunch Sheraton Bali Kuta is unlimited juice, soft drink, tea and coffee. This was more than adequate for us and throughout the day we tried many delicious juices as well one of the best iced coffees I’ve ever had.

Or for those who really love a good wine, for an extra IDR 500,000 ($50 AUD) you can have unlimited sparkling and premium wine. Or is champagne more your thing? In case you can’t quite tell, we absolutely loved our visit to the Sunday Market Brunch Sheraton Bali Kuta. I genuinely can’t fault it. The service was second to none and the food just phenomonal. In fact, the whole time I have been writing this review my mouth has been watering and I have had to do everything in my power not to jump over and book plane tickets back to Bali right now just to experience this all over again! Whenever you are in Bali next, whatever you do, wherever you stay, do yourself a favour and put this on the list. You will not regret it!
